Back in form,I think

I'm baaack!  Evidently no one missed me cause it's dead around here.  I had surgery on the 18th and I finally feel human again.  So now what I need is a few people to kick me in the pants and get me on the right track.  I have a chapter I've been struggling with for months now and a short story that needs editing and some fluff for publication.  I seem to have lost my muse somewhere and the words aren't flowing at all.

I know exactly where I'm going with the chapter but every word…

A paying acceptance

I've decided that Duotrope is my new best friend. Instead of submitting to the first site that comes up in a google search it lets me sort through publications and find one with a brief that fits the story.

The result? My first paying acceptance, for the story that didn't win the British Fantasy Society competition last year. Only a token payment of 1/4 cent per word but it feels *fantastic*, and it means I've achieved my next goal of making it into a paying… Continue

Got another acceptance

For a new magazine, Soft Whispers. I found Duotrope and got a bit overexcited so I've sent off another bunch of submissions too. I must really hate myself to sign up for so much self flagellation.

Writing time

How do you manage writing time? I'm at the point in life where I think I need to allocate writing time. It is something I feel very strong about and it's time I restructured things. I work more than full timeand I have 4 people in my life that depend on me for many things. I know professionals treat their writing time as we all treat our jobs. But as a recreational writer how do you find the time? I seriously think I need to designate time every day before I become a bear to live with or just… Continue
